This is an rare original country of origin German premiere program for Fritz Lang's silent masterpiece Die Nibelungen, released by Decla-UFA in 1924. The film was shown in two parts, "Siegfried" and "Kriemhild's Revenge." One of the greatest achievements of the silent era that had adventures, magical and otherwise, death and revenge, for its central themes. This program is from the first showing of the film on 14 February 1924 at the UFA-Palast Zoo Theater in Berlin. Lavishly illustrated with photos from the film and portraits of Fritz Lang and wife Thea von Harbou. All text is in German. Starring Gertrud Arnold, Margarete Schön, Hanna Ralph, Paul Richter, Theodor Loos, Hans Carl Mueller. Directed by Fritz Lang. An unrestored program with bright color and a clean overall appearance. Friedrich Christian Anton "Fritz" Lang (December 5, 1890 – August 2, 1976) was an Austrian-American filmmaker, screenwriter, and occasional film producer and actor. One of the best known émigrés from Germany's school of Expressionism, he was dubbed the "Master of Darkness" by the British Film Institute. His most famous films are the groundbreaking Metropolis (the world's most expensive silent film at the time of its release) and M, made before he moved to the United States, his iconic precursor to the film noir genre.
